One of our goals during our time as co-provosts is to pay respect to the hard work and achievements of our dedicated faculty.

When used as a verb, the word “award,” means to give or decree after careful observation and consideration. Based on the hundreds of worthy candidates, it will indeed require much careful observation and consideration to determine award recipients for 2016.

It falls to our community of faculty members to nominate our peers for these honors. We invite you to consider your colleagues around campus, and around the state. Please devote some time to nominate an outstanding professor. It is extra work to fill out a nomination form, but we believe it is time well spent. Award nominations are one of the ways we learn about the great work happening at WSU, and regardless of official recognition, we are always eager to hear about outstanding teachers, researchers, and leaders in our institution.

Our University is blessed with many award-worthy faculty members, so please be persistent in advocating for them. Re-nominations are encouraged.

Part of what makes WSU a great place is our close-knit community, and recognizing outstanding work is an important part of building our University. It is a tangible way we can express our appreciation and admiration for great achievements by our colleagues.

Our University recognizes faculty in a variety of categories. You can read about the different awards here. If you need some inspiration while considering whom you might nominate, watch these quick videos about last year’s honorees.
