Strategic Reallocation Research Guide

Washington State University’s Office of Institutional Research has provided a guide to resources on enrollment, academic profiles, student retention, degrees conferred, admissions data, and course enrollments and grades. For student/course/degree data from fall 2012 forward, please refer to the OBIEE Census dashboards (OBIEE Census Training PDF). For information prior to 2012, use the links on the Institutional Research site provided. For employee, grant, and research data, the Academic Profiles should provide information on a departmental/college level.

For further information, please contact Steve Selk in the Office of Institutional Research at (509) 335-4533.

Enrollment

Program Enrollment

OBIEE Census Dashboards → Acad Plan by Campus College Department

  • Reports of student academic plan enrollment (Fall 2012 – current)
  • Can select reports based on term, acad career, campus, college, or department
  • Reports available with variables including academic level, plan type, sex, race/ethnicity, and citizenship/residency
  • Students are counted in each program in which they are enrolled; summing across programs would result in duplication of headcount, and would not match unique student headcount at the college or institution level.

Student Demographic Profiles

OBIEE Census Dashboards → Demographic Summary; Race/Ethnicity by Campus; Enrollment by Sex, Race/Ethnicity and Full/Part time

  • Unique headcounts of students by campus and career by term (can select multiple terms, Fall 2012 – current)
  • Reports available with full and part time, sex, % minority, % first generation, and citizenship/residency

OBIEE Census Dashboards → New Student Demographic Summary

  • Unique headcounts of new incoming students by campus and career by term (can select multiple terms, Fall 2012 – Current)
  • Reports available with full and part time, sex, % minority, % first generation, & citizenship/residency

State Funded Student Enrollment

OBIEE Census Dashboards → FTE; AAFTE

  • Can select by term or academic year, academic career, campus, college and department

Academic Profiles

The Academic Profiles for colleges and departments are located behind the employee log-on on the Institutional Research Website:  http://ir.wsu.edu/News/992  Click on that link, and then authenticate using your AD log on and password.  Access to most of the profiles (except financial information) is granted to all WSU employees.

Included are summary data on student enrollments and degrees, faculty and staff, and research awards and expenditures in the College/Department by campus. Whenever possible, the current departmental and college structure is used so trends are comparable.

While much of the data in academic profiles is also available elsewhere, these reports pull data from several different sources/reports and present them by college or department and campus.  Thus program enrollment is shown on the same page as course AAFTE, degrees awarded, and employee counts, for example.
