Women and Leadership Alliance

Statement of Purpose:

Affirm the value of all women as leaders

  • Empower women to assume personal, professional, and institutional leadership roles
  • Provide opportunities for women to develop their leadership skills
  • Promote a supportive environment for women throughout WSU

The Women and Leadership Alliance began in 1993 as monthly gatherings to discuss leadership issues for women at Washington State University.

The alliance sponsors annual Outstanding Mentor Awards to give students, staff, and faculty an opportunity to recognize a member of the WSU community who has acted as a mentor, whether formally or informally, during their academic or professional career.

Both males and females are eligible to be nominated as outstanding mentors. One nominee in each category (student, civil service staff, administrative professional staff, teaching faculty, and research faculty) receives the Mentor of the Year award.

The alliance sponsers an e-mail list to foster dialog and exchange ideas concerning women and leadership, and to inform subscribers of leadership development opportunities and activities of interest. To subscribe to the list, go to lists.wsu.edu/join.php, enter your information, and type women-leaders as the name of the list.
