Some of Washington State University’s outstanding faculty are getting a chance to shine on the football field at Martin Stadium.

No, they’re not catching passes or tackling anyone. But the Provosts’ Featured Faculty members are getting due recognition this fall. At each home football game, the provosts are honoring a worthy faculty member, and joining them in cheering on the Cougs.

“Our faculty are the cornerstone of WSU,” says co-provost Ron Mittelhammer. “This small gesture is among the many ways we want to feature our outstanding professors, and say thank you.”

Co-provosts Erica Austin and Ron Mittelhammer are committed to honoring WSU’s faculty. The Featured Faculty member program will continue through the basketball season. The Featured Faculty Members receive two tickets to the game and are publicly recognized on the field/court.

“It’s exciting to see the faculty members get a few moments in the spotlight because much of what they do is behind the scenes,” Austin says. “It’s also great to see them connect with colleagues and fellow Cougs.”
