The Spring Semester is off to a roaring start and we are excited to make 2019 another outstanding year for our great university. The spring is brimming with activity and we encourage you to get involved, and encourage your students to engage in the many events and resources that enrich the WSU experience.

Here are just a few of the events and projects we invite you to take part in:

We’ll be gathering input from across the University as we prepare our next strategic plan. Our current plan runs through 2019, and we’ll be composing a new plan to guide the University through 2024. There are dialogue sessions planned for each campus in the coming weeks, and more sessions will be announced shortly. Check your email inbox for invitations, and get more details at strategicplan.wsu.edu.

Faculty can now refer students experiencing academic challenges to advisors and tutors to students through Early Academic Referrals. The system is designed for early intervention on behalf of students who may need extra academic help, so that they can remain on track to be successful in the respective course. The Student Care Network remains in place, and is designed for students who may need referral to physical or mental health resources.

The Office of the Provost is pleased to offer the Navigate Student mobile app to help Cougs stay on top of their busy schedules. The app is designed to connect students to resources when they need them, and includes unique features like Study Buddies – a system that connects them with classmates in search of a study partner, or two.

Faculty are invited to the Teaching Innovation Forum on February 18 in The Spark, room 212 and via videoconference. The morning session will cover “Documenting your Teaching,” while the afternoon will feature a panel presentation and discussion about the challenges of engaging our diverse student population.

Showcase is our annual celebration of WSU research, bringing together faculty, staff, grad students and undergraduates to exhibit their research projects, and honor the achievements of our University community. The week’s festivities include the Distinguished Faculty Address and the Celebrating Excellence Banquet.

Please check your email inbox for our monthly newsletter, Provost Perspective. It’s filled with feature stories, event reminders and important information for faculty, staff and the WSU community.

Thank you for contributing to WSU’s land-grant mission and for providing our students with an invaluable educational experience.

Go Cougs!
