Ann Monroe is the HRS Director of the Benefits unit, and has held that position since 2011.
She is a long-term member of the WSU community, beginning her employment in 1986. Through her career, she has primarily served in the Benefits Unit, but also has experience in other HRS fields, including Employment Services, Disability Services, Training and Development, and Leave.
As the Benefits Director, she administers the university’s benefits package provided by the State of Washington’s Public Employees Benefits Board, as well as serves as the administrator of the Washington State University Retirement Plan (WSURP), the Voluntary Investment Plan (VIP), and the WSU Supplemental Retirement Plan (WSU-SRP). She also works with the Department of Retirement Systems on administering the Public Employees Retirement System, Teachers Retirement System, and the Law Enforcement Officers Retirement System for WSU employees.
Ann sees her role with the university to be one that provides assistance and quality customer service to our employees and management, with the goal to ensure people are aware of what their benefits offer. It is important to her to have her unit be seen as a resource to new employees, separating and retiring employees, employee’s with disabilities, and to all of us throughout our careers with WSU.
