WSU reaches tentative agreement with Academic Student Employees

Dear WSU community,

We are very pleased to announce that Washington State University and the United Auto Workers (UAW) have reached a tentative agreement on a first contract for WSU Academic Student Employees (ASE). The parties met more than 40 times and exchanged more than 200 proposals on over 40 different contract articles before finally reaching this tentative collective bargaining agreement.

Our Academic Student Employees play a critical role in WSU’s teaching, research, and service activities and we believe this tentative contract demonstrates our strong commitment to supporting these vital members of the WSU academic enterprise.

We want to thank everyone who has been involved in these negotiations for all the time and care put into crafting this complex and multifaceted agreement. We also want to extend our thanks to WSU faculty and staff members for all their preparations to help ensure that teaching and research activities could continue during this period.

The Academic Student Employee ratification vote on the tentative agreement is scheduled between Jan. 19 and 25. Further details of the tentative agreement are forthcoming.
