About WSU STEM SSS Research and Mentoring Program
The STEM SSS Research & Mentoring Program (R&MP) provides participants of STEM SSS with hands-on experiences from trained faculty or graduate student mentors early in their academic career, establishing academic integration, precedent of engagement, and investment in the STEM field of interest.
STEM SSS Participants who are active in the project and complete program requirements (including a UNIV 104 STEM College Success Seminar and financial education requirements) will be eligible to participate in undergraduate research mentoring from trained Faculty/Research Mentors.
To reduce financial burden and opportunity cost of experiential opportunities, participants in their first or second year who complete all requirements will qualify for Engagement Grant Aid through STEM Student Support Services. Mentors receive training in cultural agility, effective mentoring, addressing inequities in the classroom, and establishing experiential educational opportunities. Trained faculty mentors committing to one academic term will be eligible for Faculty/Research Mentors, including stipend and recognition.
