STEM SSS R&MP Faculty/Research Mentors
STEM SSS Faculty/Research Mentors are faculty and graduate students who serve as undergraduate research mentors to students from diverse backgrounds pursuing degrees in STEM and health sciences. STEM Engagement Fellows engage in intensive learning and support in providing inclusive and culturally responsive mentoring in undergrad research and put that learning into action by mentoring STEM Student Support Services participants.
STEM SSS FACULTY/RESEARCH MENTORS
- Develop and promote inclusive teaching, mentoring, and undergraduate research Contribute to WSU’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts
- Join a supportive cadre of faculty committed undergraduate student success
- Provide feedback on programming and practices for STEM SSS R&MP
FACULTY/RESEARCH MENTORS COMMIT TO:
- Participate in required learning and development in inclusive and culturally responsive mentoring
- Provide one semester of undergraduate research mentoring to a designated undergraduate student in the STEM Student Support Services program
- Participate in STEM SSS R&MP events, including mentor networking and STEM SSS R&MP celebration
- Cultivate other faculty members and graduate students to become future STEM SSS Faculty/Research Mentors
Upon completion of the program:
- FACULTY/RESEARCH MENTORS are eligible for a $300 stipend upon completion of training
- A certificate of completion
- A letter of recognition from STEM SSS and acknowledgement on the STEM SSS webpage
