Ten Featured Faculty members joined the Provost at Martin Stadium for football games throughout the fall.

The provost welcomed faculty members to Martin Stadium throughout the football season to recognize them for their outstanding teaching, research and scholarly achievements.

Professors from various colleges were honored during home games from among those nominated by their college’s leadership. They enjoyed five Cougar victories.

“Our faculty carry out WSU’s land grant mission each day through their teaching and scholarship,” says Interim Provost Bryan Slinker. “It’s a pleasure to recognize their efforts in front of Cougar fans and publicly display our appreciation for all that they do.”

Rebecca Cooney, a clinical associate professor in the Murrow College of Communication, was recognized during WSU’s victory over Stanford on November 16.

“This is my eighth year of teaching at WSU and it is humbling to be recognized so publicly for the work I love doing each day,” Cooney says. “It was also incredible to stand on the field and look up at the students and fans – a sea of crimson. It was an unforgettable experience I will treasure forever.”

Ofer Amram, an assistant professor in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, thoroughly enjoyed his experience during the Cougars’ victory over Northern Colorado on September 7.

“I was honored to be chosen as a Featured Faculty Member and given the opportunity to attend the WSU football game,” Amram says. “It was an amazing experience to see the game from the President’s box and to hear the crowd cheering from the field during the ceremony.”
