{"id":450,"date":"2021-04-02T12:36:54","date_gmt":"2021-04-02T20:36:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/?page_id=450"},"modified":"2025-10-08T16:54:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T00:54:13","slug":"teaching-conference-registration-award","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/grants-and-awards\/teaching-conference-registration-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching Conference Registration Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"breadcrumbs\" typeof=\"BreadcrumbList\" vocab=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/\">\r\n\t<!-- Breadcrumb NavXT 7.2.0 -->\n<span property=\"itemListElement\" typeof=\"ListItem\"><a property=\"item\" typeof=\"WebPage\" title=\"Go to WSU Teaching Academy.\" href=\"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\" class=\"home\" ><span property=\"name\"><i class=\"wsu-icon wsu-i-home\"><\/i>WSU Teaching Academy<\/span><\/a><meta property=\"position\" content=\"1\"><\/span> &gt; <span property=\"itemListElement\" typeof=\"ListItem\"><a property=\"item\" typeof=\"WebPage\" title=\"Go to News.\" href=\"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/news\/\" class=\"post-root post post-post\" aria-current=\"page\"><span property=\"name\">News<\/span><\/a><meta property=\"position\" content=\"2\"><\/span><\/div><header class=\"wsu-article-header \">\r\n\t<h1 class=\"wsu-article-header__title\">\r\n\t\tTeaching Conference Registration Award\t<\/h1>\r\n\t\t<\/header>\r\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-row pad-ends wsu-row--single\" >\r\n    \n<div class=\"wsu-column\"  style=\"\">\r\n\t\n\n<p class=\"article-tagline\">The purpose of this award is to cover the cost of registration fees to attend a conference\/ meeting\/ workshop that will directly enhance the applicant&#8217;s classroom teaching and\/or scholarship of teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Applications for the current award cycle <strong>opens October 1, 2025<\/strong> and is <strong>due November 14, 2025<\/strong>.&nbsp;See link to online application form below.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity wsu-spacing-margin-left--large wsu-spacing-margin-right--large\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"criteria-for-eligibility\">Criteria for Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Who:<\/strong> Must be a current full-time WSU faculty member at the rank of Lecturer or above at time of application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For when:<\/strong> Application must be for attendance at a meeting\/conference\/workshop between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Intent:<\/strong> The purpose of conference attendance must be to develop the applicant&#8217;s teaching practice and\/or scholarship of teaching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Frequency:<\/strong> Each applicant is eligible for one award per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Deliverable:<\/strong> Applicants must agree to present a &#8220;takeaway&#8221; from their conference attendance to the WSU teaching community if selected for an award.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Follow-up:<\/strong> Awardees must submit a registration invoice for receipt of award.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity wsu-spacing-margin-left--large wsu-spacing-margin-right--large\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"use-of-funds\">Use of Funds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of this award is to cover the cost of registration fees to attend a conference\/ meeting\/ workshop that will directly enhance the applicant&#8217;s classroom teaching and\/or scholarship of teaching.&nbsp; Use of these funds for any other purpose is not allowed.&nbsp; If the awardee is unable to attend the conference, awarded funds will be requested to be returned to the Teaching Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity wsu-spacing-margin-left--large wsu-spacing-margin-right--large\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"takeaways\">Takeaways<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Takeaways are the way that the awardee shares what they learned from their conference attendance with the WSU teaching community.&nbsp;This can take the form of a presentation or a faculty-led workshop, for example), a Teaching Tip video, a Power Point video, a blog post on the Teaching Academy website, a poster, a new or redesigned shared assignment or syllabus, and more.&nbsp; Takeaways that do not involve a live presentation must be submitted within 60 days of attendance unless an extension is granted by the award committee. They will be archived on the Teaching Academy website as a resource.&nbsp; Instructions for submission of the Takeaway will be provided at the time of award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity wsu-spacing-margin-left--large wsu-spacing-margin-right--large\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"award-limits\">Award Limits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants will receive up to $500.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants may receive one award per year and are eligible to apply in subsequent years after submitting a takeaway, as described above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity wsu-spacing-margin-left--large wsu-spacing-margin-right--large\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"application-and-review-process\">Application &amp; Review Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timing:<\/strong> Applications are due <strong>November 14, 2025<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Applying:<\/strong> Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/conference-registration-award\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/conference-registration-award\/\">application form<\/a> and select \u201csubmit\u201d button. <em><strong>Please note:<\/strong> Submitting the application indicates that you have read the above Criteria for Eligibility and agree to them.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Review process:<\/strong> The review committee will review all applications within two weeks from the deadline and respond to applicants shortly thereafter.\n<ul>\n<li>Applications will be competitively rated based on how attendance enhances the teaching of the applicant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Review Committee will make awards based on the strength of the&nbsp;application, available funds, and the number of applicants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications must be complete to be considered for funding.
