{"id":1837,"date":"2025-02-10T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-10T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/?p=1837"},"modified":"2025-03-21T07:59:23","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T15:59:23","slug":"nominations-open-through-march-21-for-wsu-teaching-academy-membership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/2025\/02\/10\/nominations-open-through-march-21-for-wsu-teaching-academy-membership\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations open through March\u00a028 for WSU Teaching Academy membership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/\">Washington State University Teaching Academy<\/a>\u00a0seeks\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/provost.wsu.edu\/teaching-academy\/join\/\">nominations<\/a>\u00a0from Feb.\u00a010 through March\u00a028 for faculty from every college and campus to become members of the university\u2019s premier organization dedicated to teaching excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the organization\u2019s first drive since 2023 for new members, said Ashley Boyd, academy chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe invite tenure\/tenure-track and career-track faculty with at least three&nbsp;years of teaching service at WSU and\/or another institution to consider this opportunity to self-nominate and apply,\u201d said Kate Watts, vice&nbsp;chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organization is made up of faculty who are committed to ideas, pedagogy, innovation, and service who will energize the academy and serve the university and its students in the best ways possible, said Boyd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Membership recognizes teaching excellence and members serve as vital resources and advocates for faculty by shaping university policy through grants and award reviews, cross-disciplinary peer evaluations, information mentorship, and professional development. Members are expected to attend general meetings as their schedules permit, and lead or participate in initiatives and committees according to their interests, skills, interests, and availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to supporting the academy, other faculty, and the university, there are innumerable personal benefits to the individuals who are part of the academy, said Watts.
