Teaching Fellows Example Projects/Work Plans

Research

Teaching Fellows may conduct research related to pedagogy. For example, this may include innovative teaching methods generally or specific to the discipline of the Fellow, use of academic technology to promote student engagement and success, alternative delivery methods, or class size.

Collaboration

Foster interdisciplinary and collaborative opportunities across colleges and campuses. Teaching Fellows may collaborate with others across the system doing similar work. For example, individuals involved in student success grants, units supporting faculty in the adopting of innovative teaching methods and technologies, etc.

Teaching with Technology

Teaching Fellows may engage in development of new tools or best practices for existing tools. This may include collaboration with AOI technology and computing staff, and use of AOI resources such as the Technology Test Kitchen (mobile and physical space), media development resources, instructional design, accessibility expertise, etc.

Spark

Teaching Fellows may connect with the efforts and opportunities provided through the Spark.

The purpose of the Spark, WSU Pullman’s digital classroom building, is to cultivate a spirit of innovative, collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching and learning at Washington State University. By infusing technology, peer mentorship and support into the learning process, the Spark becomes the premier environment on the Pullman campus where faculty and students have access to resources that enable a spark, opportunity or willingness to take a chance to try something new or see where connections occur between different ideas and disciplines. The Spark can serve as an incubator for teaching Innovation with successful strategies spreading across all WSU campuses.
