WSU Teaching Academy hosts mindfulness workshop Dec. 9

The Washington State University Teaching Academy offers to all faculty and staff systemwide an online mindfulness workshop from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, the first day of finals week. To attend, guests must register to receive the Zoom link to join the workshop. Leading the discussion are two members of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Dawn DeWitt and Skye McKennon.

WSU Teaching Academy Opens Applications for Conference Awards

The Washington State University Teaching Academy announces that applications are open through Nov. 15, 2025 for awards to cover faculty registration for a conference to develop and enhance teaching practices and/or the scholarship of teaching knowledge and skills. Recipients of the award must agree to present a “takeaway” from their conference attendance to the WSU teaching community, said Nicholas Cerruti, academy committee chair for grants and awards.

Registration Open for TEACHxWSU 2024 Set for Oct. 25

Washington State faculty, staff, and graduate students systemwide can register now for the Oct. 25 TEACHxWSU 2024 that is focused on becoming leaders and champions for a student-ready college, said Ashley Boyd, chair of the hosting WSU Teaching Academy. Programming runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Free Copies for Fall 2024 Teaching Academy Book Club Beginning Sept. 1

The first 50 registrants signing up to participate in this fall’s WSU Teaching Academy One-Read Book Club will receive a free, printed copy of Becoming a Student-Ready College: A New Culture of Leadership for Student Success. “The asynchronous, online club will kick off on Sept. 1, so we encourage interested faculty, staff, and graduate students to register as soon as possible,” said academy chair Ashley Boyd.

WSU Teaching Academy Recognizes Nine Faculty with Four types of Awards

The Washington State University Teaching Academy has presented awards to faculty members systemwide who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship this year. “We value the accomplishments of this year’s awardees as educators, scholars, and role models for others,” said Kara Whitman, academy chair. “They have gone above and beyond, and it is an honor for the academy to recognize their efforts.”

WSU Teaching Academy Award Applications Open Through March 22

The Washington State University Teaching Academy has opened online applications for three annual awards in support of great teaching and learning systemwide, said Nicholas Cerruti, member and grants and awards committee chair. “The deadline is March 22, giving adequate time for teachers at every campus to evaluate each award and submit the required materials to be considered,” he said. The award recipients will be celebrated at an awards ceremony April 11.
