Initiatives Strategic Reallocation

Transformational Change Initiative

This student-centered implementation and research project is well underway creating an innovative framework for student success from matriculation through graduation and beyond. From its inception in 2016, the TCI has launched several projects in support of student success and we’re building momentum that will continue to support the priorities articulated in WSU’s strategic plan and the Drive to 25.

Please explore our site to learn more about the initiative, its components, who’s involved and what it means to have an exceptional, transformational student experience at WSU.

Fall 2022 ELEVATE Conference

The inaugural, annual ELEVATE conference will support WSU faculty and graduate students all across the university system to Engage Learners, Enhance Voices, and Advance Teaching Excellence.

The theme of the conference is “Inclusive Teaching,” and through brief presentations, dialog, and engaged participation, we will demonstrate how structured, active learning can create more equitable classrooms and improve learning for all of our students. Co-sponsors of the WSU-wide conference are the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, the Transformational Change Initiative, and Academic Outreach and Innovation.

—Erika Offerdahl, director of the WSU Transformational Change Initiative

The Transformational Change Initiative (TCI) is a merger of two strategic reallocation proposals, one aimed at freshmen and the other at upperclass students. The freshmen program is aimed at building resilience, purpose and growth through both faculty support and parental interventions. The program for upperclass students integrates peer mentoring, programming and advising to move students into increasingly experiential learning opportunities. The project is a collaboration between several colleges and academic support units across multiple WSU locations. TCI was originally funded at $7,395,267 over five years.
