The workshop will begin with a mindfulness session with Trymaine Gaither.
  • 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Mental Health Support Space in Butch’s Den, Compton Union Building, WSU Pullman
    • The Mental Health Support Space provides drop-in, informal, private consultations with a WSU counselor.

Consultations are about 20 minutes long and offered on a first come, first served basis.

The Mental Health Support consultant will carefully listen to your concerns and ask you some brief questions. Once your problem and goals are clear, depending on your needs, the consultant will offer you suggestions and resources. Consultations in the Mental Health Support Space are not formal counseling and are not intended to be a substitute for mental health treatment. For students experiencing an urgent concern or crisis or those who already know they want regular counseling, check out the WSU system and campus resources at https://studentcare.wsu.edu/mental-health/

Come engage in a short reflective activity and create a simple macramé key chain that symbolizes for you the strands of self you honor and value. All materials provided. Hosted by the WSU Pullman Common Reading Program.
  • 12:10 – 1:00 p.m.: University Recreation Class in SRC 256, WSU Pullman
    • Gentle yoga with Anna
  • 12:10 – 1:00 p.m.: Drum Circle Performance in the Terrell Library Atrium, WSU Pullman
    • Led by Darryl Singleton. Drum circles bring people together. The act of drumming is not just cathartic for the individual; we are reminded of our connection to those around us and how beautiful life can be when we interact from a place of collaboration and support rather than confrontation and self-centeredness. This is the essence of the National Day of Racial Healing. We invite you to put hand to drum to create vibrations that will resonate through each soul in the circle and outward through campus, community, region, and nation.
  • 1:45 – 2:45 p.m.: Writers Give Voice: Reading and Open-Mic Poetry in the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, WSU Pullman and Livestreamed
    • As part of the National Day of Racial Healing 2024, the museum and WSU’s English Department will host a reading and open mic program in response to the theme of day. Readers will include WSU Campus Civic Poets & finalists, creative writing students and faculty, and student editors of WSU creative writing publications. All students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to bring a poem to read during the open mic portion. This program takes place live in the museum’s Pavilion Gallery, and will also be livestreamed on the WSU Global Campus YouTube channel.
