Grand Challenges town hall meeting Wednesday

We encourage faculty to attend the upcoming Sept. 2 town hall meeting in the CUB, room 212, to discuss and offer input on the WSU Grand Challenges. An all-campus reception will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3 and the meeting will run from 3 p.m. to 4:30.

The five Grand Challenge themes were developed from the 120-Day Research Study and will establish a guide for research priorities over the next five years, and beyond.

The Grand Challenges also provide a template for many of the goals and values outlined in the Strategic Plan. The two documents are closely aligned and the initiatives within them will complement each other as they are carried out.

Please RSVP for Tuesday’s meeting by emailing to or.120daystudy@wsu.edu.

Tuesday’s town hall meeting is the third of its kind on the Pullman campus. Similar meetings in Vancouver, Spokane, Tri-Cities, WSU-West, North Puget Sound at Everett, Puyallup REC, Prosser REC, Wenatchee and Mount Vernon REC will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

See the message from the Office of Research for more on the Grand Challenges and next week’s town hall meeting, which is co-sponsored by the Office of Research, the Office of the Provost and the Faculty Senate.
